KB1003:
Unique Microsoft FTP & Microsoft SMTP Identifiers |
| In
order for echoPANEL to communicate
with Microsoft FTP and Microsoft SMTP
Service, it needs to know the unique
Identifiers of these applications.
By default, these Identifiers are 1,
and no changes should be required,
but if you experience errors on the
Settings page, it may be
necessary to edit the echoPANEL
Identifier file.
To do
this, open DRIVE:\Program Files\Sanamato\echoPANEL\App\Root\
Includes\identifiers.txt and follow
the instructions at the top of the
file. |

KB1004:
Configuring Serv-U to be compatible with echoPANEL |
| In
order for echoPANEL to communicate
with Serv-U, Serv-U must be
installed as a service, and store
its domain settings in the registry.
If you
are experiencing problems, you can
confirm Serv-U configuration
parameters as
follows;
-
To
check if Serv-U is running as
service, open Serv-U
Administrator, highlight your
server in the left pane, and in
the right pane there should be a
check in "Start automatically
(system service)"
-
To
check how Serv-U is storing
its domain settings, open Serv-U
Administrator, highlight your
domain (below Domains) in the
left pane, and in the right pane
the Domain type should be "Store
in computer registry"
If
the above settings are correct but
you are still having problems, it is
very likely due to having more than
one domain in Serv-U. |

KB1005:
Configuring SmarterMail to be compatible with
echoPANEL |
| In
order for echoPANEL to communicate
with SmarterMail, SmarterMail must
be running under IIS, and not using
built-in SmarterMail web server.
There
is a thorough help topic regarding this in
the official SmarterMail Help documentation
located
here.
If
SmarterMail is running under IIS but
you are still having problems, check
the following;
-
Ensure you have stopped and
disabled the SmarterMail
built-in web server
-
Ensure the IP Address
shown in IIS
is not 127.0.0.1
-
Ensure you have entered the
correct information below the
Basic Settings tab, on the
echoPANEL Settings page
|
|
|
|
KB1006:
Opening your firewall for echoPANEL |
| To
use echoPANEL from a remote
location, you must open Port 5555 in
your firewall software.
Given
the variety of firewalls on the
market, we cannot explain how do
that here, but it is generally a
simple task and should be outlined
in your firewall documentation. |

|
KB1007: The WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) Service |
| If
you are encountering numerous
problems with echoPANEL, or
echoPANEL simply doesn't run, the
first thing you need to check is, is
whether or not the WMI service is
running.
To do
this, click on Start > All Programs
> Administrative Tools > Services
and look for Windows Management
Instrumentation, then confirm the
service is Started and set to
Automatic. |

|
|
KB1008:
Problems with MS FTP |
If
you are experiencing communication
problems between echoPANEL and
Microsoft FTP, please review these
possible causes;
-
There is a unique Identifier
mismatch, see article KB1003
-
You have more than one FTP Site
(you only require Default FTP
Site)
-
The FTP Site in IIS is stopped
|
|
|
|
KB1009:
Problems with your FTP Client Software |
If
you are experiencing FTP User connection
problems within your FTP Client
software, please review these
possible causes;
-
Passive Mode is interfering with
the connection, and may need to
be disabled
-
You are not using the correct IP
Address, username or password
|
|
|
|
KB1010:
Problems with a new installation |
If
you are experiencing problems after
installing a newer version of echoPANEL
(over top of a previous version) or simply want to revert
back to the previous version, you
have two options;
-
Uninstall echoPANEL from the
Windows Start Menu, and
re-install your previous version
using the correct echoPANEL.exe
file (recommended)
-
If
for some reason, you cannot or
do not wish to use the method
above, you can perform a similar
operation by replacing the new
files manually. To do this, you
will need to be logged into your
server with administrator
rights, where echoPANEL is
installed
- Logout of echoPANEL, and
close your browser
-
Open C:\Program Files\Sanamato\echoPANEL
(this only applies if you
selected the default path
during the installation)
-
Look for a folder called
Backup
-
Inside the Backup folder,
open the backup_date folder
where "date" reflects the
most recent date
-
Copy everything below the
backup_date folder
-
Move back up to the
C:\Program Files\Sanamato\echoPANEL
folder and paste,
overwriting the existing
files
Use
the second method described above
only as a last resort. In most cases
this will work fine, but could cause
undesirable results. Use at your own
risk.
Regardless of which method you
choose, any Websites, Email Accounts
or FTP Users created while the new
version was installed will be not be
visible in echoPANEL when you revert
back to the previous version, and it
may be necessary to manually delete
them from IIS, your mail server, and
your ftp server to prevent
duplication problems. |

KB1011: The
application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000135) |
This error typically means that you
do not have the .NET Framework
installed (or enabled) on your
server.
By
default .NET 1.1 is installed with
Windows Server 2003. If you are
attempting to install echoPANEL on a
different Operating System, it will
not work properly.
If you are running Windows Server
2003, you can check the status of
.NET, as follows;
-
Open IIS, click on Web Service
Extensions in the left pane, and
confirm that ASP.NET v1.1.4322
is visible and Allowed, in the
right pane view.
-
Open Windows Explorer, and
navigate to C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework
and look for a folder called
"v1.1.4322".
If
the .NET Framework is not installed,
the preferred method of installation
is through Windows Update but if for
some reason, you cannot use this
method, it can be downloaded
directly from;
.NET Framework 1.1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=262d25e3-f589-4842-8157-034d1e7cf3a3&DisplayLang=en
And the latest service pack, after
the above installation, can be found
at;
.NET Framework 1.1 SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a8f5654f-088e-40b2-bbdb-a83353618b38&DisplayLang=en |

Version Information: Microsoft .NET
Framework Version:1.1.4322.2407;
ASP.NET Version:1.1.4322.2407
There has likely been an ASP.net 1.1
failure to copy the MailEnable DLL
to the correct folder during the
MailEnable and/or echoPANEL program
installation.
There are two possible methods to
fix this;
-
The quickest and safest is
reboot your server
-
If
the first option does not solve
the problem, open IIS, and
switch the .NET version of the
echoPANEL website to .NET 2.0,
save, then switch back to .NET
1.1, and save
