How does it
work?
echoPANEL
Live is a real-time Windows
control panel
that establishes a secure connection to IIS
(Internet Information Services), Microsoft
FTP, and Microsoft DNS, and soon a built-in
free mail server.
When you issue
a command in echoPANEL Live, it communicates with
the underlying server software and performs
the task. echoPANEL Live offers you the ability
to handle common day-to-day hosting tasks like
creating new sites, ftp
users, and dns records inside a friendly
interface without the painful learning curve
of complicated server software.

Website Creation
echoPANEL Live establishes a seamless and secure
real-time connection to IIS (Internet Information Services) allowing you to
create, modify and delete fully functional websites.
Although echoPANEL Live uses proprietary code to ensure
all new Sites are created with the most common IIS
settings, it offers advanced control for the
experienced administrator, for example; IP Address, Port, Host
Headers, Home Directory, Script Access &
Permissions, Application Pool designation, Default Documents,
bulk Domain Aliases, folder
permissions, and ASP.NET versioning. For some users,
Website creation and management is all they need
echoPANEL Live to handle, and because it has been
developed with modularity in mind, this is possible.
Email Accounts
The next version of
echoPANEL Live will include a free built-in
mail server.
FTP Users
echoPANEL Live supports real-time access to MS FTP
(Microsoft FTP), shipped free with Windows Server
2003. Managing FTP
User accounts and permissions is a snap inside the echoPANEL interface.
DNS Zones
echoPANEL Live offers real-time access to MS DNS,
enabling you to create Zones and Records in an
easy-to-understand interface.
Backup/Restore
The ability to backup and restore Sites, FTP Users and DNS Settings. This is a
powerful feature that will save you considerable
time and frustration in the event your server
crashes or you wish to move your hosting environment
to a new server. One click Backup and Restore
automates the rebuilding of IIS, your FTP Server,
and your DNS Server.
Always Up To
Date
Using the built-in Live Update feature, you will
always know if you have the latest version of
echoPANEL Live, plus easy access to our download area.
Installing new versions of echoPANEL Live is clean, but
automatically backs up your existing
version just in case.

Global Settings
Upon installation of echoPANEL Live, you will be shown
step-by-step instructions for one-time
configuration. You will choose the default base path
for new sites, your ftp server (if applicable), and
your DNS Server (if applicable). This is the most
technical aspect of getting echoPANEL Live up and
running, but for most will be fairly simple... and
not to worry, we're here to help!
